The
Avenal-Ivy League Summer Academy 2011

The Avenal-Ivy League Summer Academy 2011 was
a great success. The joy of hearing the laughter of children created
an atmosphere for learning. The children singing “You’re a Grand Old
flag” and “De Colores” was the high light of the Avenal Summer
Academy 2011.
Throughout this summer academy, language arts
and mathematics was reinforced through higher level thinking skills
provided by Bell Work Educational Materials – “Summer Connection
Program”.
During the Summer Academy 2011 Respect for
oneself and Respect for others was the motto. Our Avenal Children
were wonderful to work with stated our teachers … all of which were
Young, and Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Each morning the children arrived early and
were herd singing in the conference room. All the children together
recited the pledge of allegiance, followed by additional singing
accompanied by the joy of laughter.
Special commendation goes to Gloria Preciado,
